Daniela Terranova graduated with full marks in piano and composition. She has also a laurea cum laude in Humanities and now is a Phd researcher in Musicology, at the University of Gorizia, associated with Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III (international doctorate in audiovisual studies: cinema, music and comunication).
She specialized in composition at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Azio Corghi, Ivan Fedele (Accademy of music in Pescara), Nadir Vassena (Master of Arts in Music Composition and Theory - Lugano) and Beat Furrer (Postgraduate at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz). In recent years has received several awards and prizes, among wich the first prize at the international competition "Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award" in Lugano, the first prize from CIDIM (national centre of musical sources), the second prize at the international competition ICOMS (international centre of musical sources) in Torino, the first prize at the international competition MEA in Rome and lots of others. She has written works for prestigious orchestra, ensemble and musicians among wich the Orchestra of the Italian Swiss (under the direction of Marco Angius), The Orchestra of Tuscany - Festival Play it! - the Orchestra Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, the ensemble Repertorio0, the ensemble Laboratorium, Dedalo ensemble, Ex novo ensemble, Fontana Mix ensemble, Arsenale ensemble, the string quartet Energie Nove, Alda Caiello, Duccio and Vittorio Ceccanti, Maurizio Ben Omar, Marco Ortolani. In the 2010 the CIDIM, that has always been actively involved in the field of juvenile musical education, produced her singspiel C’era una volta... Re Tuono!, for instrumental ensemble and animated voices, work winner of the 2010 Kinderszenen Competition for an original unpublished opera for children between 5 and 11 years of age. The initiative has been realized thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage & Activities – General Directorate for live Entertainment. For 2012 new executions and commissions are expetcted, among wich a new work for the International Festival of Valle d'Itria (Martina Franca-Puglia): a rewrite from the baroque opera Orfeo by Luigi Rossi. Her works are broadcast by Radioclassica, Vatican Radio, Switzerland Radio of Lugano, and ORF - Österreichischer Rundfunk- (Austrian Radio).
