Giovanni Scapecchi (Arezzo, 1977) began the musical studies of piano and then continued those of organ, improvisation and organ composition with Wijnand van de Pol, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Liuwe Tamminga, Jósef Serafin, Julian Gembalski and in 2001 he took a degree with full marks at the State Conservatory of Music in Perugia.

From several years his music interest turned mainly to the composition. In 2005 he got a full marked degree in composition at the Music Conservatory of Perugia. Then, in 2007, he also got a specialization degree in composition studies of the St. Cecilia National Academy in Rome under the guidance of Azio Corghi. In 2008 he graduated in Composition and applied Music with full marks and honours and in 2009 he got the Music Teaching qualification. He has attended master classes in composition with Stefano Gervasoni, Giacomo Manzoni and Hubert Stuppner. He also followed the composition courses at the Chigiana Academy of Siena with Azio Corghi and Mauro Bonifacio and those of film music and cinematography with Nicola Piovani, Luis Bacalov, Emidio Greco, Andrea and Antonio Frazzi.
