Maurizio Goina is a viola player and an audio-visual composer.
He received a Master Degree in Music and New Technologies from the Conservatory of Trieste - Italy.
He plays viola in the orchestra of the Trieste opera theatre. His audiovisual works were performed in many festivals in Italy, Europe and the Americas.
Some examples are: the ICMC 2005 (International Computer Music Conference) in Barcelona - Spain, the 2005 "MANCA" International Festival of Contemporary Music in Nice - France, the 2005 "Asolo International Film Festival" in Asolo - Italy, the 2006 "Antimatter" Underground Film Festival in Victoria - Canada, the 2006 "Spark" Festival of Electronic Music and Art in Minneapolis - USA, the 2008 "404" Ars Electronica Festival in Trieste - Italy, the 2008 "Mestre Film Festival" at the Candiani Cultural Centre in Mestre - Italy, the 2010 "Catodica" international video-art exhibition in Trieste. Since 2008 he has been developing, together with Pietro Polotti and with the collaboration of Sarah Taylor, the EGGS system for gesture sonification.
Currently, he is working as a researcher on a Gesture Sonification research project at the School of Music and New Technologies of the Conservatory of Trieste.
He was awarded the 2007 National Arts Prize (IT) - section "Electronic music and new technologies". In 2008 was awarded the first prize ex aequo - section "Tema libero" - of the video competition "Francesco Pasinetti", Venice, Italy. In 2009 was selected at "Les Concours Internationaux de Bourges", France - section "Music for dance and for teather". In 2011 his work "Di-visi" has been selected in the 5th edition of the Call Cemat.
In 2009 taught the "Techniques for video editing and compositing" module at the Conservatory of Genoa.
