Born in Italy in 1978, Andrea Di Paolo graduated in Piano (1999) with Maria Cristina Boccadamo and in Composition (2006) with Ferdinando Nazzaro; also studying history and musical aesthetics, organ and gregorian’s chant. In 2007 he graduates in "New Musical Languages", 2nd level academic course of composition and new music, discussing a thesis entitled "In the sounds and in the signs: the contemporary's perspectives". In 2009 he obtained a second degree avec mention in composition at the Conservatoire National de Region de Strasbourg -CNRS- (France) with Mark André. He has attended composition's seminaries with Luciano Berio, Arvo Part, Gyorgy Kurtag, Salvatore Sciarrino and Beat Furrer. Even if he started as a classical pianist, he doesn't leave out the expressive means of jazz, attending courses of harmony and arrangement for orchestra and also of piano jazz in Siena (Italy: 2001-2004). He has played in piano solo, duo and trio in italian and european theaters (Portugal, Serbia-Montenegro, France, Ukraine, Armenia, Spain, Russia, Germany, Romania). His compositions have been performed in important festivals and in prestigious halls in Italy and abroad and  broadcast by Radio France and Radio RAI. In 2007 he won the International Competition for composers "From Romanticism to Contemporary", sponsored by the European Commission (Bruxelles/Bucharest). In 2010 he obtained a full marks degree in Composition at the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome and he is a founding member of the group of research M()A. In addition to music, Andrea Di Paolo is interested in architecture, contemporary art and photography.
