Fulbright Scholar in Residence at Scripps College for the Fall semester 2010 Roberto Andreoni earned his undergraduate degree in Music Composition from the Conservatorio G.Verdi of Milan with further specialization at the local Civica Scuola di Musica under the tutelage of S.Gorli, G.Manzoni, F.Donatoni, B.Ferneyhough and G.Grisey. From 1989 to 1992, he studied and taught at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned both his M.A. (1990) and Ph.D. (1994) in Music. While in the United States, he recorded (Wergo, Stradivarius, Rodaviva) some of his solo, chamber and theatrical works, which have been broadcasted (RAI, BBC, KKSF, Vatican Radio) and published (Rai Trade, BMG, Suvini Zerboni, Eco, Rodaviva).

From 1993 to 1996, he was the Director of the Scuola Civica di Musica in Assago, as well as instructor of History of Musical Forms, History of European Vocal Music and Twentieth Century Harmony at the The Institute for the International Education of Students (IES Abroad) Milan Center through the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. He subsequently taught at the Conservatory of Trento and at the Civica Scuola di Musica of Milan, where he also served as the Director from 2002 – 2004.

He is Full Professor of Composition at the Piccinni Conservatory of Bari, and frequently lectures as a guest professor in Italy, Switzerland and the United States.

From 1997 until the present, has been the Director of IES Abroad Milan Center at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, overseeing the academic, logistical and cultural experience of approximately 300 American students per year.

In addition to his academic endeavors, he is also an award-winning composer (BEA Award – Best Event in Italy for year 2009) of audio-visual installations, soundtracks and stage music. In Milan, he has collaborated with the Divertimento Ensemble and is a member of the AGON Arsmagnetica studio. His compositions have been performed in the United States, Europe, also in Brazil, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Pakistan. His works have been played at such renowned venues as Carnegie Hall in New York, La Scala in Milan, the Biennale in Venice, and the Settembre Musica Festival in Turin. His Opera Sì was successfully staged in Bergamo.
