He studied at Milan Conservatory and graduating in Piano (1975) with Piero Rattalino and in Composition (1980) with Renato Dionisi and Azio Corghi. In 1982 he partecipated at post-Diploma Course at Accademia Chigiana in Siena, with Franco Donatoni, taking his diploma with Honour.

He was awarded in various national and international composition compotitions like the "Okanagan Music Festival for Composers" in Canada (1983), l'"Alea III" in Boston (1985), "Rassegna Internazionale di Composizione Acc. Briccialdi" in Terni (1985), "Rencontres Internationales de Chant Choral" in France (1986).
In 1980, 1982 and 1984 his works were select and performed at the International Music Week organized by the Gaudeamus Foundation in Holland.

His compositions were performed in national and international festivals ("Nuova Consonanza", "Accademia Filarmonica", "Nuovi Spazi Musicali" and "Nuova Musica Italiana" in Rome; "Progetto Dionysos-Musica 2000" and "Novurgia" in Milan; "Festival Antidogma" and "Rive-Gauche Concerti" in Turin; Auditorium "Carlo Felice" in Genova; "Autunno Musicale" in Como; "Sonopoli" in Venezia; "Festival Musica'900" in Trento; "Interensemble Week" in Padova; "Aspekte Salzburg" in Austria; "Almeida Theatre" in London; "Boston University School of Music" in the U.S.A.; Örebro in Sweden; "Nieuwe muziek" in Middelburg, Holland; "Semaine de Musique Contemporaine Italienne" in Villeneuve D'Ascq in France; Bruxelles; ecc.)  and broadcasted by RAI and various european radios.

He teaches Composition at the Milan.
